Mass Shooting at a California Dance Bar

At least 12 people were killed in a shooting at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, California. The shooter is dead as well. People who were dancing dropped to the floor and hid behind chairs and counters in stunned silence, witnesses said. Others jumped over chairs and broke windows to get out. A sheriff's deputy who was one of the first on the scene is among the dead.

Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker has now been briefed on the shooting in California and will receive updates as authorities learn more, according to a Justice Department official.
