One major reason why computer slows down is because of data fragmentation. As time goes by, you install and put more data in your computer. And then you delete some if it. What happens here is data is basically scattered all over the place in your disk.

To resolve this, you just need to defragment your computer. In PC there's a built-in Disk Defragmenter tool.
